TEXAS PANHANDLE CENTERS is Hiring a Caregiver [227] Near Amarillo, TX

Position: Caregiver [227]

Program: Amarillo, Texas - ASCI

Salary: $15.66/hr.

Shift available: Full-time (Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4 pm)

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • The Caregiver performs direct care services for individuals attending the Day Habilitation Program in ASCI
  • The Caregiver is responsible for providing supervision and care to clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • The Caregiver has no financial responsibility but is accountable for the assigned property of the clients
  • The Caregiver works under the supervision of the ASCI Director
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE)
  • Some experience assisting in the arts and crafts, music, education, recreation, and vocational, and physical and occupational therapy
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Experience in designing programs and working with persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • Bilingual and/or American Sign Language skills
